NRA ANNOUNCES PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR DIVISION
The National Rehabilitation Association is pleased to announce the establishment of our Professional Counselor Association as an internal division of the NRA. The NRA recognizes the work of rehabilitation counselors is critical to the future of the industry, and through this Division, will ensure our professional counselor members a continued structured presence and a voice capable of influencing legislation and advocating for the profession.
Agreeing to lead the development of the division are Ray Feroz, PhD, CRC as interim president, and Dru Fentem, CRC as interim Secretary/Treasurer. Ray is a professor at Clarion University in Clarion, Pennsylvania, and Dru is a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with the Department of Labor in Tifton, Georgia. Strategic planning is underway and will include soliciting and utilizing member input in determining the focus and goals of the organization. Members can expect the opportunity for visionary leadership, applicable training programs, and member focused, career supporting services. This is an exciting chance for all professional counselors of the NRA to be a part of creating a division that will concentrate on members and their professional needs, and to furthering a commitment to continuous improvement of the profession.
The NRA, working together with its Divisions, has a long established reputation for making a difference in the field of rehabilitation and positively impacting the lives of people with disabilities. The establishment of the internal professional rehabilitation counselor division will make a difference for all our members. Adding the united voice of this professional division to the other divisions within NRA will unify, strengthen and enhance the Association’s efforts in addressing those professional and legislative issues facing all of our members and the people with whom we work. Working together, we will continue to be successful at making a difference.
